There's something deeply special about indigenous forests. The lush luminosity of life played out in near-perpetual shade, the warm dank scent of sweaty growth and languorous decay.

Everyday from 08h00 - 15h00 the second largest indigenous forest in South Africa situated at Karkloof 18 kms inland Howick comes alive with people of all ages and sizes experiencing a true "Tarzan and Jane Adventure", on slides of up to 175m long which takes them amongst the birds, monkeys, trees and plants of this magnificent forest.

Should you wish, the option to go tandem with one of your qualified guides as an option open to all, he then becomes your "ABS" brakes and all you do is enjoy the ride. After briefing you will be taken up the mountain in a 4x4 with a short 30m walk to the first platform.

We offer horse trails. Our horses are Appaloosas - bred for their friendliness and hardiness. Our trails go into the mountains, across streams and through forest. See the Berg at its best!

Ron has developed a series of specialized tours, which cover three main interest areas. Firstly, the Battlefield Route that includes the well-known Anglo Boer war battlefields of Spionkop, Colenso, Ladysmith and also sites from the Voortrekker period and Anglo Zulu war sites of Isandlwana and Rorke's drift.

Tours to the spectacular San paintings in the heart pf the mountainous Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg World Heritage Site are also very popular as are his tour series dedicated to the customs and history of the Zulu people.

Home for Ron and Sandie Gold is their traditional thatched imuzi on the Winterhoek farm that merges with the rough sandstone and acacia thorn trees that dominate the rugged valley bushveld of the aptly named Hidden Valley in the Mooi River district of the KwaZulu-Natal midlands

Contact Wildfly for a list of waters or visit their shop in Nottingham Road for their  extensive selection of flies including traditional and specialist patterns.
